A recent report published in the State Information Centre in China referred to Chengdu as having a centre role in the development strategy in Western China. Having such an establish investment base for national and international companies together with the balanced urban-rural development, Chengdu is one of the most prestigious areas in China.
Co-Produced by China's leading economist Li Yi Ning and the State Information Centre, the report is the result of a long term study into the area and the role of developing the Southwest region of China. Chengdu's urban development, industrial upgrading and international business development. Chengdu has made significant progress in attracting investment from overseas businesses and the report recognises the efforts made to modernisation with the hi-tech industries.
The progress made by the Chengdu Hi Tech Zone is in particular recognised for the contribution to this process and establishing Chengdu as a city for development and technology outsourcing for foreign companies.
The local government in Sichuan has been recognised for its efforts in structuring the binary economy between urban and rural areas.
